I was born in 1980 in Mecklenburg Vorpommern and lived on the countryside close to Stralsund my whole childhood. For 10 years I worked with the marine and water office of Stralsund county. During this time my love for everything maritime, the ships and the undeniable charm of the people was born. Most of the years I used to live on the beautiful island Usedom in the Baltic Sea – just a couple of footsteps to the beach. Deep in my heart I’m what people in Germany call a ‘Fischkopf’, you could say a costal child. Despite my local ties a bigger love drove me distance from home – my husband. Since then I live with my husband, our two kids and our Labrador puppy in the center of Germany in the gorgeous region of Spessart. Even though the landscape and nature is so different to the north it is in no way inferior. With my hometown always in my heart I eventually got the chance to express myself in a creative way. In 2017 fascinated from painting with acrylics, I reached a deep satisfaction working with this medium. At the beginning I dedicated myself to the painting of animal motives and exclusively worked for family and friends. But during this time I also experimented with different maritime motives and slowly but steady my undeniable love for the maritime sheen through – the coast, the sea, the wind, the stillness and the unmistakable climate of the Baltic Sea are shaping my paintings.
The greatest enemy of quality is haste.’ – Henry Ford I now slowly begin to paint free, let go of what is holding me back and concentrate on my abilities. Instead of presenting reality in my paintings, I try to create an intense personal moment by an illusion combined with detailed moment shots by omission or clarity. By abstraction I try to catch the dynamic of the landscape and questioning what nature means. I’m at the beginning of this wonderful journey but I love to take you with me!
